Calistoga is known for their wineries, mud baths, and healing mineral waters. With that being said, I knew I needed to make a visit up there.
I went to visit Calistoga Ranch in November. Even though it was cold and a bit drizzly, it was perfect. There are enough fireplaces and wine to make a winter stay desirable. With that being said this is a place that I would escape to year round. It has a secluded feel, nestled into the wine countryside. However, the downtown Calistoga area and the surrounding bigger wine regions, Sonoma and Napa, are very accessible. The property sits on 157 acres which you can explore through hiking trails, outdoor yoga, an underground wine cellar, and more!
You have arrived!
You drive past the property’s private vineyard and pull up to the beautiful rustic reception area. There is a fireplace to keep you warm and a complimentary beverage cart to help kick off your stay.

They have four different types accommodations, Deluxe Lodge, One Bedroom Lodge, 2 Bedrooms Lodge, and the Estate Lodge. They are all beautiful and are perfect for a couple’s getaway, a family gathering, or even friends who want to vacation together. The lodges are built into the surrounding nature and fully utilize the indoor and outdoor space. Most of the accommodations either have an outdoor shower or an outdoor hot tub.
Their Spa is not to be missed! Again the spa encompasses the nature with the use of their indoor and outdoor space. There are more fireplaces in the spa area that keep you extra cozy when lounging in your plush robe. The healing mineral pools are the perfect pre or post treatment relaxation spot. The spa is perched up on a hill so you are nestled amongst the trees. It is a natures lover’s paradise.
Wow! Look at that beautiful restaurant, which is perfectly named The Lakehouse. It is the on site restaurant that over looks Calistoga Ranch’s private lake on property. It offers full service dining as well as lite bites in the lounge area. The restaurant features local Napa Valley wine as well as fresh and local ingredients (our favorite!).
Splish, Splash, we’re not in the bath!
Again, perfectly settled in the outdoors amongst their private vineyard, lies the pool. They actually have two pools, one that is for everyone and one that is adults only. Who doesn’t want to take a dip in here?
What to do
Besides relaxing and enjoying nature’s beauty the resort has a lot of onsite activities. These activities include wellness classes, hiking, beekeeping courses, gardening classes, bocce ball courts, wine-blending experiences, and children’s activities.
Calistoga Ranch has something to offer everyone. Whether you are looking to do nothing but enjoy the surroundings, or looking for the ultimate wine getaway, or even the wellness, mind clearing, experience this is your place!
There is also a lot that can be done in the surrounding areas as well.
